The Smoking Siren

If you spend much time on social media it's no secret that I am a huge fan of the Don Ciccio & Figli (DC&F) liqueurs. Located in Washington, D.C. DC&F was founded by the Italian born Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Amodeo who brings with him a century old legacy in the business. They make some of the most beautiful complex and flavorful Amari in the country. If you come to my house you'll find that one entire shelf in my refrigerator is dedicated to their product line. I was honored to create a couple of cocktails for their Amari Christmas event this year.

This cocktail features the Amaro delle Sirene which is a very versatile amaro. It gets combined with the smokey peat of the Connemara Irish Whiskey and the smooth richness of Domain Cold Brew.  Domain is a new company in Kansas City, they are making some of the best cold brew around. Every detail is created with scientific precision, and it shows in their products.

The cat in the picture is named Lou. About a year ago he decided he was going to move in with me. It took him about 4 months to wear me down but finally I relented and now Lou and I are roommates. He goes by @whiskycatlou on Instagram. Despite my best attempt he seems to constantly pop up in my cocktail photos. I was laying on the floor to capture this picture in the right light. Lou kept wandering in and out of the shot and finally settled in the background. It wasn't the shot I was looking for but sometimes you just have to go with it.
